Hello everyone, David Lee here with a pictorial review of te ongoing Tensou Gattai Series. First up is of course our beloved DX Gosei Great, the core robot of the series. Before I start, let me go through some box sizes comparison photos over the past years.
As you can see, the 2008 DX Engine-Oh's box is the smallest among the 3 latest DX core mecha releases. If you notice, Engine-Oh's box is a bit flatter too. Design wise, Bandai have been standard. All the years, the toys we get in the boxes are 99% similar to the one seen in the front picture. There were differences in some years, notably 2004's Tokusou Sentai Dekarangr's DX Dekaranger Robo with 3 different waves released with the Robo's ears varying in length.
Gosei Great's box champions the width title comparison having like 1 to 2 centimeters wider than Shinken-Oh's box.
Alright, enough of the boxes, let's get on to the meat of the review, the first in the Gosei Header and Gattai series, DX Gosei Great.
This is how the pieces are arranged like this. If you can't see them, this is what they are:
Top Middle to Top Right: Gosei Dragon Sword (made up of Gosei Dragon's neck and tail)
Top Left: Gosei Phoenix's body (aka Gosei Great's left arm)
Middle Left: Gosei Dragon's body (aka Gosei Great's main body)
Middle Middle: Gosei Snake and Gosei Tiger's body (aka Gosei Great's legs)
Middle Right: Gosei Dragon's wings X 2
Bottom Left: Gosei Shark's body (aka Gosei Great's right arm)
Bottom Middle to Bottom Right: Gosei Headers (from left: Dragon Headder, Phoenix Headder, Snake Headder, Tiger Headder and Shark Headder)
Let's see what they look like in Gosei Machine mode.
Honestly, the Gosei machines are very disproportionate with Gosei Dragon being the biggest of the lot. In the show, the Goseigers use their Change item, the Tensouder to summon the Gosei Machines when the Yuumajuu or Warstars creatures revive into giants.
SUMMON! GOSEI DRAGON!
This is the sound that we get when you slot the Gosei Dragon card into the Tensouder. For the whole DX toy line, only Gosei Dragon and Gosei Tiger's cards were released. The rest are scattered in the Dice-O card releases which are similar to the Ganbaride from last year's Kamen Rider Decade line.
SUMMON! GOSEI TIGER!
This is the Gosei Tiger card and the sound that comes from the Tensouder when it is inserted. It is also of interest that the Gosei Machines are separated into the three tribes as well, namely Skyick, Landik and Seaick. Thus, generic sounds will be heard after the name depending on which tribes' machine is summoned. Skyick's one will be of bells tolling, Landik with rock slide sounds and Seaick having a strange wave sound. Gosei Tiger's card was included in the Gosei Card Buckle set while the Gosei Dragon card came with the Tensouder. Mine was a boxset so I got them both.
COMBINE! GOSEI GREAT!
When the machines' powers are not sufficient, the Goseigers will perform the Tensou Gattai skill by having the Combine card. This card was not included in the DX Gosei Great but this was included in the Tensouder as well.
Upon completing combination, Gosei Great will be formed and looks like this. Do notice that Gosei Great is a moving adaptor for future Headder series releases as we can see the black pegs on its knees and shoulders as well as the wings. Basic DX mecha articulation is present with the arms able to swivel up and down at an almost 180 degrees turning point. The arms cannot pivot a ful 360 degrees due to the wings. The legs have almost to none moveability.
The Gosei Dragon Sword can be held at the back with th help of an empty spot. If you look close enough, th Gosei Dragon Sword has another Headder peg which is used in latter combinations.
VICTORY CHARGE!
The first Victory Charge card using the Gosei Dragon Sword as the main weapon to perform the finisher. In the show, each of the Goseigers have this card and this is the first of the many different artwork Victory Charge cards that is released. This is the only Victory Charge card released under the actual DX line. Other versions come in varying Dice-O releases.
Now, for the Headders. The Headders can be separated and be displayed separately. Different from the Gashapon and Candy Toy versions, these DX ones do not have wheels at the bottom or anything and are strictly for the DX mecha only. If you have watched the Goseiger show, you would realise that there are different Headders used with the Gosei Blaster as well. These are not the ones. The Blaster versions come in the first Gashapon release.
To have them act like real and actual Headders, each Headder can open its mouth through a different way. Dragon, Shark and Phoenix have their lower jaws open downwards while Tiger and Snake have their upper jaws open upwards as seen in the photo.
Well that's all for Gosei Great and the end of part 1.
