My Ball Joint Doll My Story

I'm always fascinate with Ball Joint Doll but i have very little knowledge about Ball Joint Doll also is unpopular in Malaysia maybe because there are very expensive or have less information about Ball joint Doll.

Today i'm very happy that Mr.Jones a.ka. Firebat010 in LYN let me interview him and share his story about Ball Joint Doll with us

Can you share with us the story being of your toy collection

i started collect toy as i was child..and my parent was quite encourage me & my brother...my 1st toy collection start from die cast car etc burago & maisto and lego...i changed to collecting gundam when i was 8 year old..starting off with collecting BB gundam or called as SD gundam...till now i still collecting them and getting more...i even took part or attend at the event which host by lik tak every year..and my collection of transformer which came after transformer the movie...and follow by current collection 1/6 figures and bjd...beside of this i even collection other such as pvc anime/manga figure too..

  What is your favorite toy collection?

                      my toys collection such as (past collection)gundam,tranformers,masked rider,die cast car,

(current collection)ball joint doll,1/6 figures etc hottoys

Any particular reason why have a great interest in ball joint doll?yup,i was influence by danny choo.com..he was a person which able to carry out his hobbies and able to influnce people around the world..(i think im not the person who get influnced by him..he has a great passion on having his bjd and how he treating his bjd which bjd's collector usually called their bjd as a daugther which make having a strong feeling through this hobby..

What is the different between bjd and others doll(dal,pullip)?

well i think bjd is more refering to modern type doll which consist of ball joint and socket joint..they are mainly produce by asian country such as korea and japan.type of material being use mostly include either resin or vinyl..size categories by three main size such as large size doll usually height roughly 60cm-80cm or more..mini size which roughly 40cm tall..and last tiny size roughly 20-30cm tall..they are usually much expensive compare to fashion type doll..

other type doll such as pullip are more consist as part of fashion type doll..other example such as barbie doll,j-doll..they are more created to reflect fashion trend...pullip and blythe has a larger head which their eye are able to wink or changing position compare to other...

what do you normally consider when buying a ball joint doll?

hmm..based on my own feeling...feel?..price..quality...company service...the bigger the size the better^^

Is there any maintenance require for Ball Joint Doll?

yup...vinyl type there are more easily to stain which u need to regular check up.....wig of cause...there might get tangle by time to time...wash them if needed...restyling the wig...dun touch the face often...human product such as human make up,nail polish is not ecouraged..

How many doll you having now and will you increase it number?

i having 1 dollfie and other 1/6 doll which consist own customized...btw does hottoys consider as doll too?..haha.. yup..i will definetly increase my number of my bjd collection which waiting me too have the extra money too spend own it..^^

how much money you spend on bjd?

2k by now...think will go more then this...

Do you think bjd have any resell value? if yes why?

hmm...i think bjd got resell value is based on how good their own company marketing their product...whether having the market or not..such as volks...they only produce their dollfie with a limited quantity...which making them having resell value higher then their selling price...example saber from fate stay night...3k goes to 10k or even more by now...other famous recognize bjd such as DOD..for me i buy based on what i like.. i am not bother the resell value because most of my collection im not expecting to sell in future...

In Malaysia bjd or dolls is not that popular,do you think the doll collector will growth?if yes why?

yup,i think the reason why this hobby is not so popular because in malaysia we are hard to find and buy in our own country..we as a collector usually bought them from other country...second bjd is still not recognize by many...when they get recognize...population growth^^..third too pricey...

what do your friend,family and girlfriend think about your hobby?

for me,yes i feeling shy too when i starting into this hobby...but later on,i get to used to it...i think we should not shy about our hobby and should feel passion about it...and i having no regret about it..

 what is your advice to a newbie?

you mean as a toy collector or bjd collector? o.O...still that word we should not feel shy about our hobby and should feel passion about it and share with the other who having the same interest with us...
